BIOGRAPHY:

For the last ten years Post Literate has serviced the editing needs of many of the best known fashion designers and brands connected to their names, whether it be clothing, cosmetics or fragrance. The videos are about products but as often as not they're about a dream. Luxury brands have always been part of the mix and most recently this would extend to include fine art, with a season of projects for Gagosian Gallery. Artists featured include Picasso, Malevich and Richard Prince.

Post Literate was founded in 1988 by Paul Dougherty, one year before he started to edit on a prototype of Media Composer. In 1990 he went to work part time for a start-up called Avid doing support and demo work for their NY office.

Dougherty started as a free-lance on-line editor in the early 1980s working at facilites. For seven years he regularly edited news for BBC-NY. In 1986 he won an EMMY for Pee Wee's Playhouse which inaugerated a shift to off-line editing and long form. Working for original Avid adaptors in the early 90s, much of the work was in the corporate sector. One noteworthy project from that time was the original launch video for Time-Warner's first (pre-Internet) interactive play FSN. Shortly after that Dougherty spent a year working for ABC and NBC News, editing both long-form and magazine programs.

For much of the 90's Dougherty was in the orbit of the Web 1.0 culminating in a long term project as a contractor for Pseudo Networks producing and editing promotional videos. This youth-centric web cite has been cited as an early version of YouTube and Facebook.
